Megan and Chris drove down from Lexington for their engagement session this past (very cold) Saturday. I met Megan at a wedding i was photographing last fall. She was wearing this amazing black strapless dress and i had to compliment her on her dress and ask her where she got it.  I was pretty excited to hear from her when she became engaged a few months later. She sent me an email asking if i remembered her. Of course…i remembered her and the dress….and her and Chris dancing to Rihanna’s “What’s my name”…i must say they both have skills on the dance floor. Megan has also written her and Chris’s story for me to share. One of the best parts of my “job” is hearing each couple’s story and being able to capture a part of that story for them to have to look back on throughout their life. There is alot of love between these two. ~ and of course a great “story”. ~ as told by Megan

I have always been a believer that things happen for a reason…destiny if you will. Two and a half years ago i moved down to Lexington from Detroit with my boyfriend (not Chris at the time) so he could go to law school and i could try something new. We had visited a few law schools and something just felt “right” about Lexington. Little did i know then that things wouldn’t work out between my then boyfriend but the feeling that i had about Kentucky feeling “right” was because I was meant to come down here and meet Chris.

Chris and I have both played sports throughout our lives, he baseball and soccer and I basketball and volleyball. However, neither of us had been on a true organized team since high school. That is, until two springs ago. My friend encouraged me to join an outdoor soccer league. Being new to Lexington myself I was looking for a way to meet new people. Meanwhile, across town, Chris’ friend dragged him across town to join the same league and by chance we landed on the same team. Chris in goal and me running around the field.

We began as friends, hanging out with our soccer team, getting to know each other, and eventually he began giving me guitar lessons ( I still don’t know how to play by the way). Chris dated other people as I was with my boyfriend, and that was fine..for the time being. I always thought he was a bit of a “wild card”.  Wasn’t sure if he was ready for a committed relationship.

Eventually, though , things ended with the previous guy, and all I could do was think about Chris. I am a huge Taylor Swift fan. Every time I’d hear the song “Sparks Fly”, i realized i had the largest smile on my face and it was because i was thinking about Chris and how happy he makes me when i am around him. He’s a giant goofball, laid back and down to earth, which is lovely because he reminds me not to take life so seriously. He’s constantly making me smile and laugh. Just a touch or embrace reassures me that everything is going to be okay.

Chris is one of the most giving and selfless people i know. On October 14, before going out for HIS birthday dinner, he knelt down on one knee and asked me to marry him because according to him he wanted nothing more on his birthday than to know he had me for the rest of his life.

It’s hard to believe that two and a half years ago I didn’t even know who Chris Ciekurs is, and now I’m marrying the love of my life come June 29, 2012.

Meet Kat and David…Kat is a wedding planner/coordinator and i met her while photographing a wedding in Lexington, KY. I had just attended my grandmothers funeral on the morning of the wedding that we were working together and meeting her was just a blessing. I shared with her about my grandmother’s death and she gave me much needed hugs all day. She’s one of those people that you feel comfortable with immediately. While working that day she shared her and David’s story with me and it brought tears to my eyes. I wanted to share their story (and photos) with you so.. here it is. Written by Kat ~

David and I met nine years ago. We met at church through a mutual friend. Little did i know that eight years later i would be planning our wedding.

All through the years.. we were just friends. BEST friends. David and I often met at Starbucks for coffee (and good conversation) ..we just enjoyed each others company. We both loved to travel and would go on trips and come back and share our stories over a cup of  joe. We learned more about each other through time. We played tennis and took late night runs to McDonalds for vanilla ice cream cones. David became a part of my family. My mom took him in as a son years before that became a reality.

David said he always knew he was in love with me. I on the other hand knew I loved him…i just had no clue how much.

Over the years i dated people…he had a few girlfriends, nothing serious though. Even while we dated other people…we always stayed in contact.

It wasn’t until November 2011 that i truly realized what was going on in my heart. David spent Thanksgiving with my family and it was wonderful. Then December rolled around and David went on a cruise with his family during the holidays. He was gone on Christmas. Him being gone upset me.

I called him as he was on his way home and turns out they didn’t have a ride home from the airport.  They would be arriving at 2 am and i had to work at 7 am but i volunteered anyway..i had to see him.

When i got to the airport i waited and waited. The flight was delayed and that made me even more anxious to see him. I couldn’t wait!! I truly believe while waiting in that airport …i realized i was in love with my BEST  friend. As people descended off of the escalator..i scanned the crowd and then there he was. He ran over to me and grabbed my hand and the simple words of “hey…let’s go see the fam”…that moment …i knew….i never wanted him to leave again. If he were to leave again…i would want to be the one he came home to.

The next week was his birthday and i made him dinner and cheesecake and from that night on we decided that we never wanted to be apart. We made our commitment to be BEST friends, lover, and encouragers to one another.

We still frequent that Starbucks to this day.

Kat and David were married Oct 1 2011.
